You can see the real FPS values if you press the tilde button, they should match.
Limiting the FPS can significantly reduce the load on the processor and open more windows with the game or significantly increase performance on weak PCs.

I’ve been testing some scripts too and noticed similar results - limiting FPS to 30 doesn’t affect gameplay visually that much, but temps and usage drop noticeably. Makes a real difference on my older laptop.
