When you hover over a gallery it shows the tags.

It's technically possible but I can't do that.
The script gets the tags by loading the page of the gallery, with your solution the script would load the tags of every gallery in the page and e-hentai wouldn't be so happy, if you load too many pages in a short period of time they momentarily ban you.
I understand; also with a delay like "AutoPager for E-Hentai" the page would take too long to load :(
